We are a 501(C3) that supports organizations that provide vital human services to the East End. They cover the full circle of life – from early childhood learning to hospice assistance for patients and families. They reach out to those trying to overcome addictions and to those who need to get beyond an abusive environment. The community around the game works to build the community we serve.

                                                           This year’s charities are:

Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center
The Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center in East Hampton has the longest association with the Artists & Writers game. They fill a need for quality day care for more than a hundred, three, four and five year olds while supporting single parents, working families, and the businesses in the community that employ them.
Phoenix House
Phoenix House Academy in Long Island combines substance abuse treatment with on-site high school education for teenage boys. Phoenix House Academy helps young people face their addictions and reclaim their lives through counseling, structure, compassionate staff, and evidence-based treatment services. Phoenix House also provides outpatient addiction counseling services at its facility in East Hampton.
The Retreat
The Retreat‘s mission is to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence. In pursuit of that mission, The Retreat offers residential and nonresidential services, including a 24/7 domestic violence hotline, group and individual counseling, legal advocacy, violence prevention education and crime victim assistance, as well as a comprehensive fatherhood program, self-sufficiency and financial literacy training programs, rental assistance, batterer education, and collaborations to offer support to victims living with mental illness, in foster care, substance abuse treatment and developmental disabilities communities.
Camp Good Grief
East End Hospice in Westhampton Beach provides an individualized plan of care for patients, families and loved ones throughout the difficult time of illness and loss. Its Camp Good Grief summer program brings smiles and therapy to children suffering from the loss of a loved one. They are working to build their dream of an 8 bed residential Hospice for the East End.

Our Mission Statement

The East Hampton Artists & Writers Annual Softball Game and its events are dedicated to building a community around the game and building a better game to serve the community. In the spirit of one of the longest continuing traditions on the East End, artists, writers, supporters and volunteers come together for entertainment, competition and fun to benefit local charities that provide vital human services. We ask your help in hitting it out of the park for the community we share and love.
